There’s still time to participate in the Annual Santa Fly In. Here’s how:
If you have a child or children you would like to bring to the wonderful event, bring a wrapped gift with your child’s name in large print on the outside (so Santa can read it.) If you have more than one child, wrap the gifts in the same paper and tie them together. (Santa will call them as a group.)
For each gift you bring in, please bring an unwrapped gift for needy children.
THESE GIFTS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE AIRPORT BY DECEMBER 16th!
The Board of Social Services will distribute the gifts for the Needy in time for Christmas. You can also donate to the Somerset County Food Bank by writing a check.
On December 24th please come to the maintenance hangar of the airport prior to 11:00 am. There will be cookies and cocoa and Pat McKinley will sing holiday songs with the children while they wait for Santa. Chris Maslanka will control the wonderful sound system and there will be a beautiful set in which Santa will sit.
Around 11:00 Santa (a.k.a Airport Manager Ken Nierenberg) will call in from the plane and we will bring everyone out onto the ramp to watch as Santa flies overhead. Then after a few passes, he and his elves will land. We’ll bring everyone back into the hangar where individually Santa will give out the gifts in the order in which we receive them.
Bring you camera.
If you don’t have children to see Santa, we can use you as a ground elf to distribute the cookies and cocoa; help with traffic; and generally make sure that everything goes smoothly and safely. We would like all volunteers at the airport by 9:30 am. You can also donate gifts for the needy as well as food.
It’s a great community event and you will truly enjoy the day. Please come.
