We hope you’re enjoying the longer daylight and warmer weather. There have been some incredibly beautiful days in between the wet and windy days.
May had some wonderful moments and a very sad day when we lost our dear friend and aviator, Dave Platzer, who’s been a fixture at 39N. We will miss his talents and presence.
We will have a barbecue for you to come to the airport and meet some of your fellow pilots and “talk aviation”. Hope you can make it.
Watch out for TFRs as summer has brought the president to NJ.

This was a bad week for me. I have reached the age when one should not be surprised when friends die.
But, when I learn of a death of a person, who, apparently healthy, dies suddenly, it bothers me. So it was this past week with the surprise passing of Dave Platzer. I hadn’t flown that many hours with Dave, but we shared the love of airplanes and flying, and that led to a nice comfortable friendship. There were many times when I heard his whispered radio call announcing his arrival in the landing pattern at 39N. I rarely knew whether he was flying a Pilatus, a Cirrus, or his old PA 28, or from what direction he was arriving. There was always a pleasant swap of greetings as we sorted out who was where and our order of landing. When he wasn’t flying to and from warm areas, he was on a motorcycle, fixing his truck, or working on one of the many airplanes he owned. He was a “Great Stick” and had a warm smile and quiet manner. I will miss him.

As you probably are aware, the pilot shortage of the airlines filters down to the local level through the flight schools, charters, etc. At the same time there is more interest in becoming a professional pilot, which we all know is costly. Pilot Finance, Inc, does provide financing for flight training. For information contact pilotfinance.com .
